Rev. Carla Johnson Olds is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina and was groomed in a Christian home by her parents, the late Deacon Malcolm Johnson and Mrs. Phyllis Johnson. Educated in the Wake County Public School system, she then matriculated to North Carolina Central University where she majored in Parks and Recreation Administration with a concentration in Recreational Therapy.

Rev. Olds knew at an early age she was “called” and set apart by God. She was saved and baptized at the age of nine. As her faith grew she acknowledged publically that she was called to minister. She was licensed and ordained by Bishop Reginald S. Hinton, pastor of Mt. Pisgah Harnett Free Will Baptist Church in Erwin, North Carolina, and Bishop of the Original Cape Fear and Southwestern Free Will Baptist Annual Conference, where her Christian education began.

Carla is currently a member of The Light Community Church where she is a member of the ministerial team. She assists in the facilitation of the small group bible studies, baptism and communion. This past summer she had the amazing opportunity to assist with the inaugural year of the 1316 summer camp for teens ages 13-16. She is active on the intercessory prayer team and designed a program entitled PEARLS.
PEARLS based on Matthew 7:6, “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.” PEARLS is designed to develop young ladies into PEARLS (rare, fine, admirable and valuable), through a series of workshops and hands on activities that include Spiritual Enhancement, Cultural Enrichment, Career Exploration. She is a conference speaker and teacher. After the unfortunate experience of a miscarriage God called her to volunteer to deliver sermons with the Internment of Angeles Service. This is a service designed for families who have experienced a miscarriage or stillbirth. She has also participated in panel discussions regarding grief and on a variety of other subjects.

In May of 2014 she completed the Master of Divinity degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. During the seminary experience Carla had the opportunity to preach and teach in her newly beloved JAMAICA!
Her journey has taken her through many walks of life, in her career she has worked in the recreational field for various nursing homes, government and nonprofit agencies. She is married to Deacon Kelvin Olds for over 15 years and they are the parents of three beautiful children. The past few years Rev. Olds has concentrated on being a wife, minister and mother and entrepreneur. She strives daily to encourage, inspire and uplift those around her!
